The sixth running of the Pegasus World Cup continued to be at the forefront of innovating the sport of Thoroughbred racing – once again requiring equine athletes in both races to compete free of any medications on race day. The Invitational Series featured an impressive lineup of contenders in the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1), won by Life Is Good and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.
For the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1), won by jockey Irad Ortiz Jr while riding Colonel Liam. History was made by Colonel Liam on becoming the first back-to-back winner of Pegasus Turf race.
New to 2022 was the first edition of the Pegasus Filly and Mare Turf race, which carried a purse of $500,000 and was won by Regal Glory and jockey Jose Ortiz.
